For the latest in electric transport options, Treehugger recently featured this prototype scooter, the Kubo. After you figure out which end is up, you will see that the space underneath is designed to give you ample carrying capacity for your groceries, shopping, briefcase or other precious cargo (not children, however!).
The scooter has a weight capacity of up to 136 kg (300lbs) for driver and cargo. With top speeds of 72kph (45mph) and up to 80km (50 miles) per charge, it looks to be a contender for those who have more to carry than what fits in a glove-box!
The designer, LitMotors, is looking for backing through a crowdfunding arrangement, and hopes to raise $300K to help bring the scooter to market. This is not a first for the San Francisco-based, LitMotors, whose mission is “to design and develop innovative and sustainable transportation solutions for our growing world” – the group is also working on a motorcycle-car hybrid called the C-1, which is expected to commence production by the end of 2014.
