From the desk of Cristina Lynn, Managing Partner of PCI:
I have just returned from a very informative and pleasant couple of days in Townsville (isn’t this a tautology?) where I attended the third AALTC held at the Mercure Inn.
The event was hosted by Madonna Simmons and her team at Townsville Airport and facilitated by a very entertaining and charming Jean Kittson. Besides the perfect weather and great location, the conference provided delegates with the opportunity to listen to a number of interesting presentations including:
- New developments in Airport design which promote a more human interaction between passenger and terminal
- Research and benchmarking – the Changi Airport experience
- Public liability and disability access issues
- On line parking and the importance of good website design
- Security issues
- New technology for management of express parking areas near the terminal and dos and don’ts when upgrading access control equipment
- Issues relating to the management of taxis and hire cars
- The retail airport experience
PCI was proud to be invited to present a paper on Airport parking prices and a copy of this presentation will be posted in the next few days on our website.
The conference was held in an atmosphere of collaboration between representatives of a number of Australian and New Zealand airports as well as suppliers of products and services to this valuable sector of the economy. The relaxed tropical atmosphere and some interesting dinner venues contributed to a high amount of networking. In true Olympian fashion, Paul Divers of Auckland Airport declared the 2009 AALTC the “best ever”.
